Well of Wisdom

The image is taken from Pixabay.

Once upon a time
In the middle of a forest
Round and stout with a roof overhead
Stood a well of wisdom.

Together, the animals guarded it
Knowing about the species
Lurking around their haven
Waiting to steal the gift of Nature.

On nights when the moon was full
Rose a tipsy faerie
Swaying and tumbling in the breeze
From deep inside the well.

One by one the animals clapped
Mesmerized by her dance
Forgetting the fights of the day
As magic dust shimmered around.

Two drops of the elixir
Each got to taste
Heads bowed and arms folded
They knew a blessing wasn't to be abused.

It was the water from the well
That made them sensitive
Unlike humans
Deprived of humanity.

Animals, they were
With a heart and soul
Caring for their priceless gift
Hiding the well of wisdom from humans.

Note:
I attempted a fable in this poem.
Hope you like it.
