Shri Sateri Temple, Xelvona- Goa
I make do with what I have
Shri Sateri mandir houses Maa Bhagawati Devi
The deity of Aldona brought to the village in 1978
The mandir was built on donation money
Given by one and many
Each of whom sponsored
The golden kalasha, the sabhamandap, & the
Pravesh dwar*
Over a course of time
***********
Note:
Kalasha- An auspicious pot established with water inside and a coconut on the top
Sabhamansap- a semi-open space where temple-related events take place
Pravesh dwar- Entrance Door
Sangameshwar Temple, Sanguem, Near Xelvona- South Goa
About a place this lovely
Is to visit and see with my own eyes
But until then-
All I can say
Is that the Sangameshwar mandir in Sanguem
Lies submerged in water during the monsoons
Only the top of the gopuram you can see
If you go close enough to the gushing waves
However, on Mahashivratri,
The auspicious festival in the month of Feb
The mandir stays dry and ready
For bhakts to pray to their favorite Bhagwan

You did best for X. The temple amidst water seems delight. :-D
ReplyDeleteKudos. This was a good read. :-D
Thank you, P. :D It was quite hard to find a significant place. Yeah, I so want to visit that temple when it's not submerged in water.
DeleteIt's been a joy to learn more about some stunning buildings, thank you and good luck with the last few posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and for your best wishes. Good luck to you too. :)
DeleteYou found an X--Wow! I was wondering:)
ReplyDeleteYou've added so many temples to my list that I may have to take a gap year to visit them all--when Covid calms down, of course.
Thank you.
Haha... yeah! I got lucky. :D
DeleteGo ahead, plan your temple trail and share the memories with me. <3
Temple in a submerged water is awesome. Love to visit there some day.
ReplyDeleteI hope your wish comes true. :)
DeleteYeah, great X post! Xelvona looks fabulous with these two temples.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Frederique. :D
DeleteWow a submerged temple... Reminds me of the temple of Kala jai in Chilika lake in Odisha. I have heard that gets submerged too! And now seeing this Goan temple... I am confused... Which one had I been to. Have to go and check the pictures again.
ReplyDeleteWow, that must be an amazing sight!
DeleteHaha... there are quite a few Sangameshwara temples in that region. One in Goa, and couple of them in Maharashtra, and then one or two in Karnataka.
That is so beautiful. Funded entirely by donations? Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love letter X posts! Always such variety.
