Silver Land

Credit: Ratna Pochiraju

A land beyond the land we know
Far far away, deep in the galaxies
A mirage, an alluring reflection
Of what could have been
Should have been
Would have been
If this world remained pure
As the crystal water

Silver Land, it was christened
By the angels that dipped
In the sparkling lake
Their laughter echoing
In the rippling waterfalls
Shimmering down the diamond hills

The land was lush-
Come summer or winter
The trees burgeoned
Their fresh leaves spread around
Competing with the silvery aura
That encompassed the land

No human dared to dream
A land so pristine
Where darkness perished
Blinded by the lustrous light

  1. This is such a beautiful land and 'What could have been' indeed! Loved this one. Mesmerizing and leaves a longingness in the heart!

  2. Beautiful! It reminds me the land where the elves are leaving at the end of The Lord of the Ring.
    S is for Scherenschnitte

    1. Thank you so much, Frederique.
That sounds cool. I haven't read/ watched it (I know, literally living under a rock) but the comparison made me happy. :)

  3. The poem describes a land that is free of all forms of pollution in my opinion. Crystal clear watefalls in which the angels bathe. That is lovely imagination!

  6. May this land remain untouched by Humans. Rather no human should ever be able to go up to it. For if only once the humans reach there, it would not remain what it is, a silver pristine land!

    1. Very true, Anagha. Humans have the talent of ruining anything they touch.
      Thank you for reading. :)

  7. Painted an idyll with your words in a way only you know how--in your fluid, languid style. Beautiful.
